SOLUTION

GIVEN

a and b are co-prime numbers

TO DETERMINE

The HCF( a , b )

EVALUATION

Here the given numbers are a and b

We know two numbers are said to be co-primes if the numbers have only one common factor as 1

Again for the given two numbers HCF is the greatest number that divides each of the numbers

Since a and b are co-prime numbers

So the only common factor between a and b is 1

This gives

HCF( a , b )

= Highest Common Factor of a and b

= 1

FINAL ANSWER

If a and b are co-prime numbers, then HCF (a, b) = 1
