If a and b are rational numbers and 3 + √5

3 − √5

= a + b√5. Find the value of a and b.​

3 + √5 + 3 -√5 = a + b√5

3 + 3 = a + b√5

6 = a + b√5

6/√5 = a + b

6/√5 × √5/√5 = a + b

6√5/5 = a + b

Therefore,

a = 6√5/5 - b

b = 6√5/5 - a
