Correct Question :-

If a and b are the roots of ax²+bx²+c=0 then the value of a²+b²+2ab is .

Note :- The incorrect part is in bold .

Solution :-

Given ,

  • a , b are the roots of ax² + bx + c = 0
  • Value of a² + b² + 2ab = ?

As we know that , + + 2ab = ( a + b )²

☞ ( a + b )²

Since a , b are the roots of the given equation . Sum of roots = - (coefficient of x)/ coefficient of = - b/a

☞ ( - b/a )²

☞ ( - b)²/a²

Square of a negative number will be the same number with positive sign .

/

Hence , + + 2ab = /
