if a and b are the roots of quadratic equation x^2 +x -2 = 0 find the value of a^-1 - b^-1​

p(x) = x^2 + x - 2

sum of zeroes = a+b = - ( coeff. of x) / (coeff. of x^2

= -1/1 = 1

product of zeroes = -2/1 = -2

1/a + 1/b = a+b/ab

on putting the required values, we get

-1/-2 = 1/2
