If a and b are the roots it means you need two distinct roots so

For two distinct roots b²-4ac>0

So

8²-4(1)(p)>0

64-4p>0

4p<64

p<16

Hope it helps

susheellattala: Hi let me tell you its the answer for any value less then 16 you will get two roots
susheellattala: You can put and find it
susheellattala: And one more thing for p=16 you will get two equal roots
susheellattala: And for p>16 you will get imaginary roots
susheellattala: Btw if you have answer with you what is the answer
