Given:

A quadratic equation is,

2x²+5x-3=0

A quadratic equation is in the form of ax²+bx+c=0 and a and b are the roots of the quadratic equation

To find the value of 1/a+1/b

Solution:

2x²+5x-3=0

⇒2x²+(6-1)x-3=0

⇒2x²+6x-x-3=0

⇒2x(x+3)-1(x+3)=0

(2x-1) (x+3)=0

Either,                        Or,

2x-1=0                    x+3=0

2x = 1                           ∴x = b= -3

x = a= 1/2

Now,

1/a+1/b

=1/1/2+1/-3

=1×2-1/3

=2-1/3

=6-1/3

=5/3

Hence, 5/3 is the value of  1/a+1/b.
