GIVEN:

2x^2 - 10x + 18

RTP:

value of a-1 and b-1

SOLUTION:

2x^2 - 10x + 18

divide by 2 as all terms are divisible by 2

x^2 - 5x + 6

x^2 - 2x - 3x + 6

x ( x - 2 ) - 3 ( x - 2 )

( x - 3.) ( x - 2 )

x = 3. x = 2

a = 3. b = 2

a-1 = 3-1. b-1 = 2-1

2 1

therefore value of a-1 = 2

b-1 = 1
