I'm writing alpha as @ and beta as ß, so don't get confused.

Step by step explanation:

Firstly solve 1/@+1/ß

=ß+@/@ß

=@+ß/@ß

P(x)=x²-4x-21

Sum of zeros=@+ß= -b/a

= -(-4)/1

=4

Product of zeros= @ß= c/a

= -21

Now substitute the values in

@+ß/@ß

=4/-21

= -0.2

Therefore the value of 1/@+1/ß is -0.2.
