Solution:

  • Here they said that the resultant of the sum of a and has unit magnitude,

                             a+b=1

  • Therefore, in addition, we have to take cos

                     2cosθ/2=1

                     cosθ/2=\frac{1}{2}

                        θ/2=\frac{\pi }{3}

  • For difference, we have to take in,

         2sinθ/2=2\frac{\sqrt{3} }{2}

                       =\sqrt{3}

∴ answer is =\sqrt{3}
