Compare 2x²-4x+5 with
Ax²+Bx+C=0 , we get
A=2 , B= -4 , C=5
It is given that ,
a,b are zeroes of the polynomial
i ) a+b = -B/A =-(-4)/2 = 2
ii ) ab = C/A = 5/2
Now ,
a²+b² = (a+b)²-2ab
=2²-2(5/2)
= 4 - 5
=-1
Therefore ,
a²+b²=-1
