Given :-

A and B can plough a field in 8 and 12 days

To Find :-

In how many days they plough the field if they work together ?

Solution :-

• A can plough a field in 8 days

• B can plough a field in 12 days

Now ,

Take LCM of 8 and 12

8 = 2 * 2 * 2

12 = 2 * 2 * 3

Thus,

The LCM of 8 and 12 is 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 = 24 days

Now,

The work done by A = 24/8 = 3 units

The work done by B = 24/12 = 2 units

Therefore,

A + B = 3 + 2 = 5 units

Now,

The work done by both A and B to plough the field is = 24 / 5 = 4.8 days or 4 days 8 hours .
