Therefore, here, in polynomial 2x^2 - x - 6

   Sum of roots = 1 / 2

   Product of roots = - 6 / 2 = - 3

⇒ α - 1 + β - 1

⇒ α + β - 1 - 1

⇒ α + β - 2

⇒ Sum of roots - 2

⇒ 1 / 2 - 2

⇒ ( 1 - 4 ) / 2

⇒ - 3 / 2
