Answer:

a:c = 9:8

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

a:b = \dfrac{1}{2}:\dfrac{1}{3}

b:c = 3:4

To Find :-

a : c ?

Solution :-

First taking "a:b"

L.C.M of 2,3 = 6 [Since, Equating the denominators]

a:b =\bigg( \dfrac{1}{2}\times\dfrac{3}{3}\bigg):\bigg(\dfrac{1}{3}\times\dfrac{2}{2}\bigg)

= \dfrac{3}{6}:\dfrac{2}{6}

= \dfrac{3}{6}\times\dfrac{6}{2}

= \dfrac{3}{2}

= 3:2

\therefore a :b = 3:2

And given, b:c = 3:4

Here we can observe two different values of 'b' so lets take L.C.M of those two values:-

L.C.M of 2,3 = 6

\implies a:b = 3:2 =( 3\times3):(2\times3)

= 9 : 6

a:b = 9:6

b:c = 3:4 = (3\times2):(4\times2)

= 6:8

b:c = 6:8

Since, now :- a:b:c = 9:6:8

\implies a:c = 9:8
