Hi,

a + b = 10 -------( 1 )

ab = 16 ----------( 2 )

Square the equation ( 1 ),

( a + b )^2 = ( 10 )^2

a^2 + b^2 + 2ab = 100

a^2 + b^2 + 2 × 16 = 100 [ from ( 2 ) ]

a^2 + b^2 + 32 = 100

a^2 + b^2 = 100 - 32

a^2 + b^2 = 68

I hope this helps you.

Hi !

a + b = 10 -------( 1 )

ab = 16 ----------( 2 )

Squaring equ.1 , we get :-

( a + b )² =  10²

a² +  2ab  + = 100

a² +  2 × 16 + b² = 100

a² + b² + 32 = 100

a²+ b²  = 100 - 32

a² + b² = 68
