Given:

a+b=10 ab=2

To find: (a-b)^2

as, (a+b)^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2ab

(10)^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2(2)

100 - 4 = a^2 + b^2

96 = a^2 + b^2 ( eq.1 )

as,

(a-b)^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2ab

equating a^2 + b^2 value from EQ.1

(a-b)^2 = 96-4

a-b = √92
