Given :-

  • a + b = 12
  • ab = 14

To Find :-

  • (a² +b²) =?

Full solution :-

Formula used = {\boxed {{{{\red{( {p}^{2}  +  {q}^{2} ) =  {p}^{2}  +  {q}^{2} \:  + 2pq }}}}}}

  \sf \implies \: {(a \:  + b \: )}^{2}  =  {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  + 2ab

 \implies \sf \:  {(12)}^{2}  =  {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  + 2 \times 14 \\

 \implies \sf \: 144 =  {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  + 28

 \implies \sf {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  \:  = 144 - 28 = 116 \\

116 is the answer!!
