A : B = 2 : 3

=> A / B = 2 / 3

=> A = 2B / 3

B : C = 4 : 9

=> B / C = 4 / 9

=> C = 9B / 4

A : C = A / C

=> ( 2B / 3 ) / ( 9B / 4 )

=> 2 B × 4 / 3 × 9 B

=> 8 / 27 ( as , B got cancelled out )

=> A : C = 8 : 27

hope this helps
