we have,
a + b = 27 -- (1)
ab = 12 -- (2)
from question,
a^2 - ab + b^2 = a^2 + b^2 - ab
= (a+b)^2 - 2ab - ab
= 27^2 - 2×12 - 12 [from (1) and (2)]
= 729 - 24 - 12
= 729 - 36
= 693
a + b = 27 -- (1)
ab = 12 -- (2)
from question,
a^2 - ab + b^2 = a^2 + b^2 - ab
= (a+b)^2 - 2ab - ab
= 27^2 - 2×12 - 12 [from (1) and (2)]
= 729 - 24 - 12
= 729 - 36
= 693
