a - b = 4 _________(1)

And a + b = 6_____(2)

a²+ b² = ?

From1

a = 4+b

Put a = 4+b in eq 2

4+b+ b = 6

4 + 2b = 6

2b =2

b = 1

Pur b = 1 in eq 2

a = 5

Now,

a²+ b²

=5²+1²

=25 +1

=26
