Step-by-step explanation:

a- b =4 ..... (1)

a+b = 6 ..... (2)

a = 4+b ..... put in 2

4+ b +b =6

4+2 b = 6

2b = 2

b =1

a = 4+1 =5

a^2 + b ^2 = 5 ^2 + 1^2 = 25 + 1 = 26
