Answer:

a-b=4

a+b=6

adding the above two equations we get

a-b+a+b=4+6

2a=10

a=10/2

a=5

substituting value of a in any one of above equation we get

a-b=4

5-b=4

5-4=b

b=1

therefore a=5 and b=1

a²+b²= 5²+1²

= 25+1

=26

(or)

a²+b²=(a-b)²+2ab

=(5-1)²+ 2(5)(1)

=4²+10

=16+10

=26
