Answer:

a^3 - b^3 = 156

Step-by-step explanation:

given : ( a - b ) = 4 & ab = 12

to find : a^3 - b^3 = ?

find : a^3 - b^3 can be written as ( a - b )^3 + 3ab ( a - b )

      = (4)^3 + 3*12 (4)

        =12 + 36*4

          = 12 + 144

          = 156

Step-by-step explanation:

(a-b)=4

a=4+b. eq.1

now

substituting value of a in ab=12

ab=12

(4+b)×b=12

4b+b²=12

b²+4b-12=0

b²+(6-2)b-12=0

b²+6b-2b-12=0

b(b+6)-2(b+6)=0

(b-2)(b+6)=0

Hence,b=2 or -6

now putting value of b in eq.1

a=4+b

=4+2

a=6

now

a^3=6^3

=216

b^3=2^3

=8

now a^3-b^3=216-8

=208

hence ans is 208.
