first of all... let's find a^2+b^2...
a^2+b^2=(a+b)^2-2ab=(4)^2-8=8
(1)..a^2+b^2-ab=8-4=4
(2).a^2+ab+b2=8+4=12
a^2+b^2=(a+b)^2-2ab=(4)^2-8=8
(1)..a^2+b^2-ab=8-4=4
(2).a^2+ab+b2=8+4=12
