Answer:

a/b = 5/6

a = 5b/6

5a- 2b/6a+2b = 5b/6 - 2b / 6(5b/6)+2b

= -7b/6 / 7b

= -7b/42b

= -1/6

Answer:

The value of \frac{5a -2b}{6a+2b}  = \frac{13}{42}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The value of \frac{a}{b} = \frac{5}{6}

To find,

The value of\frac{5a - 2b}{6a+2b}

Solution:

To find the value of  \frac{5a - 2b}{6a+2b},

The numerator = 5a -2b

Multiplying and  dividing the numerator by 'b', we get

b(\frac{5a -2b}{b})  = b(5\frac{a}{b} - 2)

= b(5X\frac{5}{6} - 2)

= b(\frac{25}{6} - 2)

= b(\frac{25 -12}{6} )

= b(\frac{13}{6} )

= \frac{13b}{6}

5a - 2b= \frac{13b}{6}

The denominator = 6a+2b

Multiplying and  dividing the numerator by 'b', we get

b(\frac{6a+2b}{b})  = b(6\frac{a}{b} + 2)

= b(6X\frac{5}{6} + 2)

= b(5+2)

= 7b

6a+2b = 7b

Substituting the values of 5a - 2b and 6a+2b we get,

\frac{5a - 2b}{6a+2b} = \frac{\frac{13b}{6} }{7b}

= \frac{13b}{42b}

= \frac{13}{42}

Hence, the value of\frac{5a -2b}{6a+2b}  = \frac{13}{42}
