a+b=5
b=5-a
ab=4
sub b value
a(5-a)=4
5a-asquare=4
asquare-5a+4=0
asquare-4a-a+4=0
a(a-4)-4(a-4)=0
a=4
b=1
a-b=4-1=3
hope it helps

Hey mate ✌

Here's your answer friend,

Given : a + b = 5 ............(1)

and ab = 4........................(2)

we know, (a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b²

==> (5)² = a² + 2ab + b² ...............from (1)

==> 25 = a² + 2(4) + b² ..............from (2)

==> 25 = a² + 8 + b²

==> 25 - 8 = a² + b²

==> 17 = a² + b²

==> 17 = (a + b) (a - b) ...............{ using the identity a² + b² = (a + b)(a - b) }

==> 17 = (5)(a - b) ..................again from (1)

==> a - b = 17/5

==> a - b = 17/5

⭐ Hope it helps you ^_^ ⭐
