Given,

a-b = 5 and ab = 4

Now,

Squaring both sides we get,

(a-b)² = 5²

=>a²+b²-2ab = 25

=>a²+b²-2(4) = 25 {given ab = 4}

=>a²+b² -8 = 25

So,

+ =25+8=33

Cheers!

a-b=5

ab=4

By squaring both sides, we get-------,

(a-b)²=(5)²

a²+b²-2ab=25

a²+b²-2×4=25

a²+b²-8=25

a²+b²=25+8

a²+b²=33
