Answer:

a+b = 6...(1)

ab = 8

(a+b)^2 = a^2 +b^2 +2ab

by putting values

(6)^2 = a^2 +b^2 +2(8)

36= a^2 +b^2+16

a^2+b^2 = 20....(2)

to find :

value of a-b

(a-b)^2 = a^2+b^2-2ab

by putting values

(a-b)^2 = 20-2(8)

(a-b)^2 = 20-16

= 4

(a-b) = √4

a-b = 2 ...(3)

(1)+(3)

a+b+a-b = 6+2

2a = 8

a = 8/2

  • a = 4

putting value of a in (1)

4+b = 6

b= 6-4

  • b= 2
