Answer:

let a+b=6 ( eq.1)

and an=8 ( eq.2)

a+b =6

a =6-b

put value of a in 2

(6-b)b= 8

6b- b*²-8=0

b*²-6b+8=0(by changing signs)

b*²-4b-2b+8=0

b(b-4)-2(b-4)= 0

(b-2)(b-4)=0

therefore, b=2 or 4

by putting value b in 1

a=4or 2

so, a-b can be

2-4=(-2)

2-2=0

4-2=2.
