sorry ans in pic is wrong

a+b = 7
ab = 6

(a+b)² = a²+ b² +2ab

a² + b² = (a+b)² - 2ab

= (7)² - 2×6

a²+b² = 49 - 12

a²+b²= 37

Question:-

If a + b = 7 and ab = 6 , then a² + b² is equal to

Solution:-

Given,

a + b = 7

ab = 6

➣ ( a + b )² = a² + b² + 2ab

➣ ( 7 )² = a² + b² + 2(6)

➣ 49 = a² + b² + 12

➣ a² + b² = 49 - 12

\boxed{\bf{\color{yellw}{  \: {a}^{2}  \:  +  \:  {b}^{2} \:  =  \: 37 \:  }}}

Verification:-

➣ ( a + b )² = a² + b² + 2ab

➣ ( 7 )² = 37 + 2(6)

➣ 49 = 37 + 12

\boxed{\bf{\color{yellw}{  \: 49  \:  =  \: 49 \:  }}}
