As we know,
IDENTITY 2:
(a-b) ^2 = a + b - 2 ab

(7)^2 = a + b - 2 (18)

49 = a + b - 36

a + b = 49 - 36

So,a + b = 13
Hope it helps

Identity:
 {(a + b)}^{2}  =   {(a - b)}^{2}  + 4ab
 =  {7}^{2}  + 4(18) \\  = 49 + 72 \\  = 121 \\
a + b = 11
