a + b = 9 \\ a = 9 - b \\ (9 - b)b = 18 \\ 9b -  {b}^{2} = 18 \\  {b}^{2} - 9b + 18 = 0 \\  {b}^{2} - 6b - 3b + 18 \\b(b - 6) - 3(b - 6) = 0 \\ b = 3 \\ b = 6
