if a+b =9 and ab =20 then find the value of a square + b square?

(a + b) {}^{2}  = a {}^{2}  + b {}^{2} + 2ab

Now put values of a+b and ab

(9) {}^{2}  = a {}^{2}  + b {}^{2}  + 2(20)

81 - 40 = a {}^{2}  + b {}^{2}

a {}^{2}  + b {}^{2}  = 41
