If A, B and C represent digits from 1 to 9 such that 1 AB +CCA=697 and there is no carry–over in addition. Find the value of A+B+C

Given : A, B and C represent digits from 1 to 9 such that 1 AB +CCA=697 and there is no carry–over in addition

To find : value of A+B+C

Solution:

  1 A B

+ C C A

 6  9 7

As  there is no carry–over in addition.

B + A = 7

A + C  = 9

1  + C = 6  => C =  5

A + C = 9 => A + 5 = 9  => A = 4

B +A = 7  => B + 4 = 7  => B = 3

A = 4

B = 3

C = 5

A + B +  C = 4 + 3 + 5 = 12
