If A : B is 4 : 7 and B : C is 5 : 9, then

A : B : C is

Solution

Given the two ratios A : B & B : C with the values 4 : 7 and 5 : 9 respectively. Now we have to find

A : B : C before this we have to find a common factor for B because in the above ratios we can find the different values for B i.e. 7 and 5 so in order to find a common factor we have to find its

LCM

 \begin{array}{c |c}5&5,7 \\ \hline 7&1,7 \\ \hline&1,1\end{array} \\  = 5 \times 7 = 35

Therefore , 35 is that particular common factor

Now , proceed with steps as shown

 : \longrightarrow  \tt\dfrac{A}{B}  =  \dfrac{4 \times 5}{7 \times 5}   =  \dfrac{20}{35}

Precaution : Multiply both numerator and denominator so that the ratio remains unaltered

Similarly,

 : \longrightarrow  \tt \dfrac{B}{C}  =  \dfrac{5 \times 7}{9 \times 7}  =  \dfrac{35}{63}

Therefore, Now since we get the common factor for B Now,

  • A : B : C = 20 : 35 : 63

Required Answer

 \large \tt A : B : C = 20 : 35 : 63

Thankyou
