Given that (a + b) = 5

& ab = 10

Solution:-

we know that (a^2 + b^2) = (a + b)^2 - 2ab.

=> (a^2 + b^2) = 5^2 - 2(10) = 25 - 20 = 5

Answer:

5

Step-by-step explanation:

a + b = 5

Squaring both sides, we get

(a + b)² = 5²

a² + b² + 2ab = 25

a² + b² + 2(10) = 25

- because it is given that ab = 10

a² + b² = 25 - 20

a² + b² = 5
