Solution :-

we know that, mid points of (a,b) and (c,d) is equal to :-

  • x = (a + c)/2
  • y = (b + d)/2

given that, (a, b) is midpoint of the line segment joining the points (10, -6) and (k, 4) .

So,

→ a = (10 + k)/2

→ b = (-6 + 4)/2 = (-2/2) = (-1)

also given that,

→ a - 2b = 18 ----- Eqn.(1)

putting both values of a and b in Eqn.(1),

→ [(10 + k)/2] - 2 * (-1) = 18

→ (10 + k)/2 = 18 - 2

→ (10 + k) = 16 * 2

→ k = 32 - 10

→ k = 22 (Ans.)
