We know that,

i )(x/y)^-n = (y/x)

ii) If a^m = a^n then m=n

Now ,

(a/b)^p-2 = (b/a)^p-4

=> (a/b)^p-2 = (a/b)^[-(p-4)]

=> (a/b)^p-2 = (a/b)^4-p

=> p-2 = 4-p

=> p+p = 4+2

=> 2p = 6

=> p = 6/2

=> p = 3

Therefore,

p = 3
