Hi dear,
Assuming there is gravity, and the ball doesn't hit the roof, it will land back on your hands.
The reasons:
You, the ball and the train are moving at the same horizontal velocity, that of the train.
Before you throw the ball, it doesn't have a vertical velocity, but it has a horizontal velocity (with respect to an external viewer).
When the ball is thrown with any velocity upwards, it decelerates continously, then stops for a moment and then again accelerates(in the opposite direction) while falling back.
Since the throw is perfectly vertical, there is no velocity in horizontal direction, as there is no air, there is not retarding friction as well.
So while in air, the ball has the velocity which it had when it was throw in vertical direction and the velocity of train in horizontal.
So, the ball on leaving your hand would return to your hand since both you and ball have the same horizontal velocity.
Keep learning.
Cheers
