If a ball is thrown vertically upwards with a velocity of 40
m/s, then what will be the magnitude of its displacement
after 6 s?
(a) 80 m (b) 40 m (c) 60 m (d) 20 m

(b)40 m

then,ball starts to fall downward directions with initial velocity (u) of 40 m/sec , hence the acceleration will be gravitational acceleration that is 10 m/s

Answer: c)60m

Explanation:initial velocity (u)= 40m/s

acceleration (a)= -10

Beacuse acceleration due to gravity is always negative.

t=6s,x=?

Using kinematic equation,

x=ut + 1/2 at2

= 40(6) + 1/2 (-10)(6)(6)

=240 + (-5)36

= 240 - 180

=60m.
