If a boat running upstream takes 7  hours to cover a certain distance, while it takes 4 hours to cover the same distance running downstream, then the ratio between the speed of the boat to the speed of the water current is what?​

Let the man's rate upstream be x kmph and that downstream be y kmph.

Then, distance covered upstream in 8 hrs 48 min = Distance covered downstream in 4 hrs.

→(x×854)=(y×4)

→444x=4y

→y=511x

→ Required ratio =(2y+x):(2y−x)

=(516x×21):(56x×21)

=58:53

=8:3
