Answer :

Given -

  • The body goes from point A to B and comes back.
  • The velocity of the body when it goes from point A to B is 60 metre per second.
  • The velocity of body when it comes back from point B to A is 50 metre per second.

To Find -

  • Average Velocity ?

Solution -

Let the Distance from A to B = x m.

We know, Speed = Distance/Time.

Time = Distance/Speed.

When Speed = 60 m/s :

⇒ Time = x/60 seconds

When Speed = 50 m/s :

⇒ Time = x/50 seconds

Now, As We know that the initial position and the final position of the body was same, hence, the displacement of the body is 0 m.

And We also know, Average Velocity = Total Displacement/Total Time.

⇒ Avg. Velocity = 0/(x/60 + x/50)

⇒ Avg. Velocity = 0 m/s

Hence, The average velocity of the body = 0 m/s.
