As we know that ; weight is the force exerted by earth.

g=10m/s^2
So,
Fnet= m× acc.
42= m × 10
m = 4.2 kg ( ans.)

Given:

  • Weight (w) = 42 kg
  • Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.8 m/s²

To Find:

  • Actual Mass of the body?

Formula Used:

 \\ \bullet{\underline{\boxed{\sf\orange{ Weight = Mass \times acceleration \ due \ to \ gravity }}}} \\

Solution:

After substituting values in the formula to get mass of the body,

 \colon\implies{\sf{ 42 = M \times 9.8 }} \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ \cancel{ \dfrac{42}{9.8} } = M  }} \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ M = 4.2 \ Kg }} \\

Hence,

The Mass of the body is 4.2 kilograms.

Remarks:

  • A = Acceleration
  • W = Weight
  • M = Mass
  • SI unit of Mass is Kilograms.
  • The Mass of the body is constant and does not change from place to place.
