Answer:

total distance covered will be 2.5*circumference of the track =2.5*2 *22/7*14 units =220 units

displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and the final point and here it is the diameter of the circle i.e. 28 units

Given : a body is moving on a circular track of radius 14 and complete 2.5 rounds.

To find : the total distance and displacement covered

Solution:

Radius = 14 cm

Distance covered in 1 round = Circumference of circular track

=> Distance covered in 1 Round = 2πR

π = 22/7    R = 14

=> Distance covered in 1 Round =  2 (22/7) * 14

= 88

Distance Covered in 2.5 Rounds = 88 * 2.5

= 220  units

To find Displacement we need to find position after 2.5 round

Each round 360 deg

=> 2.5 round = 2 * 360 + 0.5 * 360

= 180 deg  ( effectively )

=> its is just opposite to initial position

Hence Displacement = Diameter = 2 * radius

= 2 * 14

= 28  unit

Distance Covered in 2.5 Rounds =  220 unit

Displacement  after 2.5 Rounds = 28 unit
