Before, coming on the question let us first understand what projectile motion is exactly.

Projectile Motion:

Projectile motion is basically a form of motion experienced by an object or body that is projected just near the Earth's surface and moves along a curved path under the action of gravity only . \:

Coming towards the Question :

If the body is released from the top of the aeroplane then it will have only horizontally velocity and zero vertically velocity .

This is just same as we are dropping a ball from the top of a tower, which will fall horizontally and hit the ground. And it is parabolic motion that is projectile motion.

Yes the body is in projectile motion.

Yes, the body released from the aeroplane in flight is an example of Projectile  Motion.

- At the instant when the body is just released from the aeroplane, it only has horizontal velocity.

- But as soon as it is dropped, it attains a vertical velocity as a result of the acceleration due to gravity.

- So, it moves under the influence of both forward horizontal velocity and downwards acceleration due to gravity.

- This motion of the body follows a parabolic path.

- Hence, it is considered a Projectile Motion.
