the horizontal and vertical components of velocity are vsinθ and vcosθ respectively

after the collision momentum will change only in horizontal direction and not in vertical

initial momentum in horizontal direction is m×vsinθ

after collision velocity will reverse m×−vsinθ

therefore change in momentum is Δp=

 {p}^{f} -  {p}^{i}  =−mvsinθ \: −mvsinθ \:  \\ = \: −2mvsinθ

=−mvsinθ−mvsinθ=−2mvsinθ
