The weight on the planet is 40 N.

Explanation:

Given that,

Weight of body on earth= 100 N

Mass of  planet M_{p}= 0.1\times M_{e}

Radius of planet R_{p}=\dfrac{R_{e}}{2}

We need to calculate the weight on the planet

Using formula of gravity

At earth surface,

g=\dfrac{GM}{R^2}....(I)

At planet surface,

g_{p}=\dfrac{GM_{p}}{R_{p}^2}....(II)

Divided equation (I) by equation (II)

\dfrac{g_{p}}{g_{e}}=\dfrac{\dfrac{GM_{p}}{R_{p}^2}}{\dfrac{GM_{e}}{R_{e}^2}}

Put the value into the formula

\dfrac{g_{p}}{g_{e}}=\dfrac{\dfrac{G\times0.1\times M_{e}}{\dfrac{R_{e}^2}{4}}}{\dfrac{GM_{e}}{R_{e}}}

\dfrac{g_{p}}{g}=0.4

W_{p}=0.4\times100

W_{p}=40\ N

Hence, The weight on the planet is 40 N.
