Initial velocity of bus (u) = 0m−1

velocity of bus after t_1 sec = vt1ms−1

velocity of bus after t2 sec = vt2ms−1 = 0ms−1 (as it comes to rest)

acceleration = αms−2

deceleration = ßms−2

v=u+at

For 1st part of motion (acceleration)

vt1=u+α∗t1

vt1=α∗t1 ————(1)

For 2nd part of motion (decelration)

vt2=v1−ß∗t2

0=v1−ß∗t2 ————(2)

from (1) and (2)

0=α∗t1−ß∗t2

α∗t1=ß∗t2

t1t2=ßα
