The formula we want to use is s=v⋅ts=v⋅t. Where
ss is distance
vv is velocity
tt is time
This will show up so many times for you that I really recommend you to memorize it. Write your known parameters as variables in s,vs,v and tt.
s1=120 kms1=120 km
v1=v1= unknown
t1=3 ht1=3 h
s2=150 kms2=150 km
v2=v1v2=v1 (same speed for both trips)
t2=t2= wanted
For both trips you have
st=vst=v .
Since vv is the same for both trips then
s1t1=s2t2s1t1=s2t2.
Solve for t2t2
