Given :  buy 3 get 1 sales promotion of a is changed to buy 2 get 1

To find : what is the additional percentage of discount given.

Solution:

Let say price of 1 item  = P

buy 3 get 1 sales promotion

=> Total price = 4P

Price charged = 3P

Discount = 4P-3P = P

Discount %  =   (P/4P) * 100 = 25 %

buy 2 get 1 sales promotion

=> Total price = 3P

Price charged = 2P

Discount =3P-2P = P

Discount %  =   (P/3P) * 100 = 33.33 %

additional percentage of discount given  = 33.33 - 25 = 8.33%

8.33% additional   discount given
