In reality there are likely to be some constraints, such as not using the letters I, O and Q due to possible confusion with 1 and 0. But in theory there are 26 possibilites for each of the letters and 10 possibilities for each of the digits.

So the number of possible combinations is;

26 x 26 x 10 x 10 = 67600

Answer:

Number of registration numbers are 26^{2} \times10^{2} or 67600.

Step-by-step explanation:

The total number of arrangements of 2  letters of English alphabet are =26\times26

The total number of arrangements of remainder digits are=10\times10

\therefore The total number of vehicles with distinct registration number==26\times26\times10\times10\\=26^{2}\times10^{2}\\=67600

Hence, Number of registration numbers are 26^{2} \times9\times10^{3}.
